Time for a summer facelift!

Why? No reason, really . . . I just felt like it was time for a change. I keep seeing all those beautifully designed blogs out there, and as much as I’d love to contract out a professional makeover, the good folks at MasterCard are still screaming about that last batch of books I ordered from Amazon (and the ones from Chapters, and the ones from Kobo, and the ones from Books on Board)!

Anyway, I got to playing with some ideas, and decided I wanted to continue with the bookshelf theme of my background. Getting a nice, clean bookshelf to work with was easy, but figuring out how to fill is was not. In case you’re curious, those really are my books on the right, and that is my bottle of OPI nail polish tucked beside them. I tend to be a bit obsessive-compulsive about my bookshelves, and actually colour coordinate my bottles with my books – blacks and reds on the horror shelves; soft blues and greens on the fantasy shelves; bright pinks and purples on the LGBT shelves; and so on.

Miss Naughty School Teacher Bad Taste Bear FigurineAs for the devilish little bear, she’s actually a popular denizen of my bookshelves as well – along with her Bad Taste Bears brethren. I got my first bear as a gift a few years ago, and I’ve become a bit compulsive about collecting them since. My faves are my Madonna, Kylie Minogue, and Marilyn Monroe bears, but I do quite like my new Miss Naughty School Teacher.

You’ll notice I’ve tweaked my blog name a bit as well, promoting the hard-working ‘l’ to capital status, nudging the ‘u’ forward, and demoting the rather complacent ‘s’ a few places. Again, no real reason, other than I think it puts more of an emphasis on the books, and less on the reviewer. I’ve actually been bouncing around the idea for a while now, but every time a naysayer felt the need to comment about the ‘slut’ in ‘bookslut’ the bitch in me put it off a little longer. Yeah, I’m like that sometimes. LOL

Other than that, nothing’s changed, except (as I’m sure you’ve noticed) I’m finally getting back into posting my reviews with a bit more frequency. For those of you who don’t know, we welcomed a new addition to the family early last month, which has meant less time for reading, and I had a stupid accident that resulted in a bruised tailbone and a few separated ribs, which meant less time for writing (simply because I couldn’t sit for any length of time).

Well, that’s it for now. Not a huge change, but I’ll admit to being just vain enough to really hope you like it!
