Back In Black by Terri Peterson (transgender thriller)

If you have yet to encounter Strange Little Girls, it is a dark saga, full of dark deeds, and marked by dark sexuality . . . but it is also a story of hope and redemption. What Terri Peterson has crafted in this four-part saga is a trans-positive thriller that is daring, challenging, edgy, and ultimately satisfying.

I have really struggled as to how to approach Back in Black because I do not want to give anything away, or spoil any of the twists in store. Even talking about the emotions it evokes is a challenge, but I owe it to Alice, Emily, Steph, and Stephen.

Where I think I need to begin is by talking about Stephen. This whole story began with him, with the tragedy that sort of splintered his reality and created these other personalities, but we have not really heard much from him in the first three books. While some reader may chafe at that twist, it is entirely in keeping with the gender-positive approach that Terri has taken all along. This has always been a story that is as much about identity as it is expression, about embracing the entire trans community, and paying homage to erotic fetishes as well as lifestyle choices.

With the amnesia that opens the story, and with the way the hospital strips him of his expression, Back in Black sort of lays Stephen bare in the opening pages, and then proceeds to rebuilt his identity (or identities) in a way that is still dark and edgy and dangerous, but with a new sense of self-awareness that leads to some difficult questions and internal conversations as the story goes. Fear not, there is no holding back from the vengeance narrative that has carried the series, but that self-awareness puts a new spin on things.

I really do not want to say much more than that, but I will promise two things. One, as dark as this final chapter gets, there is some light to it . . . moments of happiness . . .  and, most importantly, moments of self-acceptance. Two, if you have been waiting for something big . . . some extravagant act of justice . . . a climax that offers full bang for your buck . . . it is most definitely here, and that promise is as much to be feared and anticipated.

For a while, I really wondered where Terri Peterson was taking Back in Black, how she was going to wrap things up without just sort of stopping (or, worse, leaving us hanging), but I love what she has done with both the narrative here and the character development. Just a wonderful read!

'Terri' Peterson, was born August 19th, 1969, and spent what she referred to as 'a miserably failed experiment in tyranny' at a typical secondary school, where she was bullied relentlessly and made fun of. She left with no regrets, a handful of qualifications for a career in banking, and bitter memories of time spent being the object of ridicule by her peers. Being myopic, gauche, skinny and flat-chested, sporting a head of rich auburn hair, made her a daily target for abuse, which she escaped by becoming immersed in the fantasy world of writing short stories.

Femtech Wars 2: Femtech Strikes Back by Wendy Thorne (fembot scifi)

For this week's illustrated delight, I am delighted to have the opportunity to feature some more exciting titles (and artists) from Amazing Transformation Comics.

Wendy Thorne, one of the co-founders of the site, graces us once again this morning, sharing her latest bestseller, Femtech Wars Episode 1: A New Woman

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Something new and definitely a little different, Femtech Wars Episode 1: A New Woman introduced the story of a man, a female android (or fembot), and a organized resistance against the Femtech empire. Having teased us with promises of gender transformation in the final pages, Wendy Thorne picks things up right where she left them with Femtech Wars 2: Femtech Strikes Back.

As this second chapter opens, we see a softer, more slender Inquisitor 1138 facing off against a small army of fembots with Taylor 8 at his side - and having a hard time of it. His body is changing, masculine muscle mass giving way to feminine curves, and as he discovers when they meet up with another Inquisitor, he has already changed beyond recognition. These opening scenes are a ton of fun, evoking a classic Star Wars feel in the battles, a Blade Runner look to the neon surroundings, and something of a Star Trek vibe to their escape.

Perhaps my favorite scene in this volume, however, is the one that follows . . . where we see Taylor 8 tell the whole story of what happened to her in the first volume. Visually, it is a fantastic scene, with the flashbacks illustrated with a darkened sort of tunnel vision, and in terms of narrative, it adds a whole new dimension with talk of android memories and souls.

By about the halfway point of this chapter, Inquisitor 1138 is looking feminine enough to take on the name Miranda, and it happened so subtly, you really need to flip back through the pages to catch all the tweaks and adjustments to his/her appearance. It is really well done, and the application of a little makeup is more than enough to warrant an erotic proposition from a rogue ship's captain. What is really interesting, though, is how Miranda evolves intellectual and emotionally, becoming aware of what it means to be a woman under Femtech authority, and deliberately choosing to cast aside her life as an Inquisitor and begin making decisions for herself.

There are more surprises in store, of course, more secrets to be revealed, but I will say no more for fear of Fembot reprisals. I will tease that the final scenes introduce yet another thematic change, with a setting and backgrounds readers likely are not expecting, but which fit the story. Also, for those of you salivating over Miranda's new curves, she does get two very erotic encounters, to explicit opportunities to discover herself, and they are glorious!

Wendy Thorne, also known as WendyTheRed, has been creative ever since she was a child. As she got older that creative side expressed itself in writing and drawing but it wasn't until she started doing 3D renders that her creativity truly flourished. Wendy’s comics tend to focus on total transformations that are generally accomplished through science fiction and fantasy means. She will also have elements of BDSM and mind control in her comics as well.

Transformed into a Hot Babe by Daniela R. Lovejoy (genderswap lesbian)

Martin is a man who is average in every way, with a love life paralyzed by an unrequited crush. Ida, the irresistible woman for whom he longs, finds him nice, but would never considers him more than a friend because she is only into girls. Fortunately for him, they both work for a leading edge genetic engineering firm, and he just happens to be the perfect subject for project Double-X.

With ten grand on the table, and the promise of human improvement and change, Martin agrees - and, I must say, the details of the experiment that Daniela R. Lovejoy explores are beautiful, creepy, exciting, and terrifying in equal measure. There is a nice bit of sci-fi there, along with some legitimate body horror - particularly with the transformation of his penis! - leaving him Transformed into a Hot Babe.

The post-transformation discussion is what really distinguished this for me, with a frantic, angry, frightened Martin (now Martina) learning just why he was chosen as their perfect test subject. It is a great insight into how it all came about, and a wonderful confirmation of how she is stuck with her new life - although, as you can probably guess, having become Ida's type shines a new light on things.

The other thing that distinguished this for me is how Daniela does not immediately jump to the hot, passionate, mind-blowing lesbian sex. Instead, she gives Martina and Ida a chance to enjoy a 'normal' night out with friends, to talk about their feelings, and remind us that they were friends - complete with shared interests and tastes - before this all happened. Yes, we do get sexy goodness, no worries there, but by the time the story circles around to that . . . well, we feel as if they (and we) have earned it.

Truly a dream (and a fantasy) come true.

Born and living in the Northwest near beautiful nature with both forest and coast with in walking distance, Daniela likes to wander in those surroundings when the weather allows it. She enjoys the fresh air, and it gives her mind space to let new ideas flow. When not writing, she loves to cuddle up with a book or watch a TV series or hang out with her friends and family.

Bad Code by Lyka Bloom (femdom feminization mindcontrol)

Did you ever take part in that experiment where somebody is blindfolded and given instructions to complete a particular task, but can only obey the instructions given? Where they cannot assume anything, cannot show any initiative, and cannot fill in the blanks with missing steps? It always ends in disaster (usually humorously so) because humans are so complex, and our actions are comprised of an entire hierarchy of actions.

Keep that in mind as you read Bad Code because, as Lyka Bloom so creatively demonstrates, words have power . . . and sometimes the results we intended are not where our instructions are leading.

Thwarted in her attempts to initiate human testing of her new technology, Margaret Seiver decides to make her boss, Marlon Humphries, her first guinea pig. She uses her mind-control technology to usurp his power, take over his life, and forcibly feminize him into her slutty sissy secretary. With the experiment looking to be an unqualified success, she begins taking control of the entire company, using a combination of surprise, assault, trickery, and seduction to bring more and more men and women under her control.

With such power at her fingertips, you might think she would start looking at extending her reach, but she is a young woman of simple desires and limited vision. Instead of transforming political structures and creating a global community of desperate consumers, she is content to toy with her coworkers, creating sissies and hucows to amuse her. It is a failing that we, as readers, are just beginning to question as Marlon begins to find his new bimbo body reacting strangely, with almost frightening new thoughts invading his submissive mind.

Without saying more, that is where Bad Code begins to get really interesting. In setting out to correct the bad code in humans - changing behaviors, overcoming addictions, eliminating pain, and more - Margaret's frantic rush to seize control of the company has replaced bad code with bad code, and the results are not going to be what she expected. This is a sexy, thrilling read, with all the luscious details that Lyka writes so well, but it is also a thoughtful one, and the surprises here are exhilarating. I wondered where she was headed with it, and whether there would be a fix, a confrontation, or a new chapter, and I love how the story ended . . . even as I wonder if we might see these women again.

Lyka Bloom lives and works in Tennessee as a technical writer. She has always enjoyed the exploration of fantasies, from the mundane to the kinky, generally revolving around hypnosis, mind control and transformation.
