The Legacy by Shadoman (BDSM)

Something a little different for all you fellow lovers of illustrated delights, a peek back at an early BDSM-themed comic by Shadoman from his Renderotica files!

When Shadoman described it to me as his "first and all time fav" comic, I knew I had to give The Legacy a read. It is a darker story than some readers may be used to, opening in a family crypt where Deanna is mourning the death of her mother, only to be handed a key to a secret lockbox that holds her mother's diary - which reveals her abduction and indoctrination as a sex slave.

To his credit, Shadoman does not gloss over the cruelties of sex trafficking. He addresses the violence, the terror, the threats, and the punishments. Her 'clients' are some of the world's most powerful, most elite businessmen and government officials, and her trainer is a woman who was once in the same position as Laura.

In case you are hoping her new Master proves to be a gentleman and that slavery turns to romance, that is not the story being told here. Laura continues to be used roughly, punished severely, and even used to help improve the efficiency of his slave trade. And yet, despite all that, Deanna only sees the kinky thrills in her story, and her mother's vague comment about passing on her legacy only makes things more intriguing.

It is in the last part of the story that we can finally become comfortable with the erotic aspects, watching as Deanna throws herself into the role of a sex slave . . . expect it is not that simple. There are still revelations, twists, and betrayals to come, and the way Shadoman brings the story full circle is just delicious.

Visually, this is an older story, so some of the models may not be quite up to what readers of his lates work expect, but there are still some gorgeous aspects. The costuming is gorgeous, especially the corsets and heels; the bondage paraphernalia is delightful, with the ring/penis gag a personal favorite; and while the equipment is more basic, more traditional that in his newer stories, that just adds to the overall feel of the comic.

The Legacy is what I would call a darkly erotic thriller, and the storytelling is absolutely superb!

Shadoman is a CG artist who enjoys telling stories through 3D comic art. Originally from the Mid-west, he now resides in Southern California. He is a Viet-Nam vet in his mid-60’s, married to a wonderful gal who is also his best friend and text editor.
