If you're new to The Dominion and the Sugilite, it's a serialized erotic science-fantasy soap opera by B.J. Frazier, set on a female-ruled planet where erotic power exchange underpins a fantasy-themed society fueled by the magic of gems known as sugilite.

Although I've been on top of my reading, I am behind in my reviews. So, with episode 40 coming up soon (the Season Four finale!), it's time to get caught up!

After so much conflict, tension, and darkness, episode 37 opens on a surprisingly casual note, with Naqqi inviting Geo to take in a T-Bif match (tennis, basketball, and football), complete with cheering crowds and prayers before and after each game. The scene allows Naqqi to relax and shrug off his responsibilities, while it invites the reader to view something so commonplace for us through the eyes of Geo, who has never seen anything like it.

After being absent for a number of episodes, we also get reunited with Ichiniko, Dvita, and their futa shake truck. The two futas have an interesting conversation about their miner clients, with Ichiniko seeing colors in them, and while the scene concludes with a beautifully erotic encounter between the two of them, what they see in the miners is interesting given all that's been happening with Cozima...

And now Ophira, who has words to say to Stone and Cliff about both their behavior and that of their wives, revealing a new undercurrent of conspiracy. There are some erotic punishments here that we haven't seen before, and while they're likely to make some male readers a bit uncomfortable, they appeal to my submissive nature.

Finally, this episode pushes the Pebbles story to the brink, with Aurora, Gaius, and Aemon collaborating on an intervention... that leaves us with a cliffhanger!
