Celebrating An Ornamental Christmas by B.J. Frazier (book review)

Title An Ornamental Christmas
Author: B.J. Frazier
Publication Date: November 28, 2025
Genres: Erotic Romance
Protagonist Gender: Various

Something of a different holiday treat from Miss B.J. Frazier this season, a slow-burn magical romance that puts a spicy twist on the sweet trappings of Hallmark movies. An Ornamental Christmas brings together love and loss, the ultimate long-distance relationship, whimsical mystery, accidental voyeurism, and a unique twist to JOI fantasies.

I'll be honest, this didn't develop the way I expected to, and given that I wasn't in the best headspace while reading it, that frustrated me when it should have delighted me. Let me explain. The image that sticks with me most from A-ha's Take On Me video is that of the lead singer reaching out from the comic book to welcome the beautiful woman reading it into the frame, and for that reason, I kept expecting Matthias to similarly pull Bailey into the snow globe.

Needless to say, that's not how Miss Frazier develops the story, and once I got out of my own headspace and just enjoyed what was developing between them - and how it developed - I did find the Christmas joy of this sweet-and-spicy romp. It's often very amusing, almost surreally so, but there's also a heaviness behind it, a bah-humbug sadness that makes the long-distance romance meaningful.

Along the way, we get to explore the discovery of BDSM adventures from both the Domme and sub perspectives, guided by Bailey's (sometimes inappropriate) eagerness, and anchored by Matthias' sweet naivety. This is a softer, more introductory exploration than readers may be accustomed to in Miss Frazier's work, but the way it builds an impossible relationship into something strong enough to break the bonds of Christmas magic is fantastic.
