Lana is a bold, confident woman, one who works out her inner demons through regular martial arts lessons. Honda is her Hapkido instructor, a strict, masterful man who fights with discipline but who loves with anger. Yuki is his wife and submissive, but she is classy, and not all meekly submissive - in fact, I would love to read a book entirely about her.
Their relationship is powerful and dynamic, and it is almost as exciting to watch the emotions develop as it is to witness the sexual power play. The sex here is intense, often violent, and pushes so many buttons, it is almost relentless. That being said, this is a book that is all about custom and consent, and no matter how wild it gets, there is always the freedom to step back.
While there is a lot to the story that is not revealed here, particularly what experiences in her past trigger such powerful reactions between Lana and Honda, there are two more books to come that I am sure will reveal the answers, starting with Dread and ending with Deliverance. If you are in the mood for bold, decisive BDSM-themed romance with amazing characters, you need to give this a read.
