Transforming Love: Express Service by Rex Haltier (#transgender #erotica)

You know what they say about not judging a book by its cover? Well, this is definitely one of those cases. To look its cover and read its blurb/preview, which run together into one poorly formatted mess, Transforming Love: Express Service: Part One does not really look like much, and yet it intrigued me. I decided to give it a read last night, and Rex Haltier very quickly impressed me with strength of his storytelling.

This is a beautifully written book, full of luscious imagery and wonderful word choices. The cover may look amateurish, but the writing is definitely professional. The pacing of the story was just about perfect, drawing the reader in, teasing the fantasy, and drawing out the voyeuristic ride. Had Mike been written differently, this could have been a creepy read, but his own self-awareness of the situation, his embarrassment over watching, and his efforts to look away make it something exciting and sensual instead.

It takes a long time for the story to reach its peak, but once Mike and Monica get to talking - once her secret is revealed - it becomes something worth waiting for. Told tenderly and respectfully, less of a trap/surprise story and more of a sexual revelation, I loved the eagerness with which Mike pleases his new lover, the awkwardness of their discreet encounter in the back of the bus, and the promise of more to come. All in all, an entirely rewarding and delightful book.

I will definitely be continuing to Part Two (Mike and Monica continue their loving at home) and Part Three (Mike and Monica and Andrea spend a morning making love and preparing for their upcoming nuptials).
