The Duke's Little Sissy is a book I picked up from a recent Freebie Fetish Friday post, and decided to take a chance on over the weekend. Much to my delight, it was a well-written piece of period fiction, with a pitch-perfect narrative voice, beautifully detailed settings, and delightful dialogue that blends innocent with ribald. It really does read like erotic literature, taking the best of both genres, and rising above mere spank-bank pornography.
Lance Bottomley (I love that name) is an innocent, effeminate young man who is aging out of the orphanage he has called home for most of his life. Fortunately, the Duke of Birmingham has taken an interest in him, and while it is not initially clear what will be expected of the young man, there are plenty of hints that it will be something wholly inappropriate.
The scene with the doctor is delicious, as much for the polite nature of his increasingly erotic examinations as the adorable naivete of Lance's reactions. The young man's arrival at the Duke's home in fantastic as well, leaving him completely overwhelmed by the opulence, and the subtle teasing by Kingsley is just delightful - especially since Lance has already been primed with a single article of feminine attire. Of course, it is the Duke himself who makes the story, and without spoiling too much, let me just say he is charismatic and commanding enough to bend any boy to his will, not forcing them to be a sissy, but making them crave it.
If you want to completely indulge yourself, L.L. Brand does have a Three Gay Sissies bundle that collects this story along with The Lord's Little Sissy and The Baron's Little Sissy. I will definitely have to indulge in those others soon.
