While it is a bit unusual in the telling, with a clinical case-note format rather a traditional narrative, that structure is very much a part of what makes Corrective Therapy: Case Notes in Domination-Psychoanalysis so fascinating. Miss Irene Clearmont invites us to be a proverbial fly on the wall as the subjects in a deviant study in sexual behavior confess all to their therapists. She then welcomes us to stick around after each session to learn how the situations were arranged, how they were secretly guided into perversion, what drugs were secretly administered, and what the institute has learned from each experience.
There are three stories here, each with something unique to offer the reader. The first involves a couple, deeply in debt, whose already strained marriage led them to counseling following a brief affair. The second takes us into a so-called open marriage where neither spouse really plays by the rules, setting them up for further temptation. The last is an altogether different story, focusing on a single man - a wealthy, chauvinistic, conservative racist - who is constantly defending himself against the sins of his past.
In each case, the participants have been forced into situations that are designed to twist them, break them, and convert them towards a highly fetishistic lifestyle of slavery to dominant black lovers. It is not just about sex and bondage, however. These are stories of emotional breaking, intellectual regression, and physical transformation. Those transformations are incredible, especially the ways in which personalities slowly change, turning once-normal suburbanites into wanton bimbo sluts, complete with tattoos, body modifications, and more. It is an incredibly erotic read, especially with the voyeuristic feel of the interviews, yet the finality of it all is frightening at the same time - especially for the men.
As an author, Miss Irene Clearmont has that unique blend of passion and experience that brings her stories to life. She writes what I would call intelligent erotica, and nowhere is that more evident than with Corrective Therapy. The amount of detail she has invested in the therapeutic background is astounding, with genuine insights into the psychology of sexuality and submission, and complex ideas surrounding interracial dominance that go far beyond the simple clichés of inherited shame and race reparations. Even when she takes her subjects as far as she does, crossing the line between fantasy and nightmare, she writes in such a way that we can understand and even appreciate the erotic plausibility of each scenario.
Miss Irene Clearmont writes Female Domination erotica - love and obsession, fetish and lust, immoral and debauched, engaging and occasionally pushing the limits of the reader's imagination. She covers the whole spectrum from sweet to spice in a series of novels and collections of short stories. She may not be to everyone's taste, but she is never boring!
