A Man Who Never Was by Stephen T. Grey (#trans #thriller #erotica)

I am always on the lookout for something new and different to read, and A Man Who Never Was certainly fits that bill. Stephen T. Grey has stepped away from his naughty brand of sissy erotica to craft a military thriller with a FtM transsexual ninja as the hero.

The opening scenes, as young Patricia/Peter is not only adopted by an Asian couple, but immediately accepted as transgender, is some of the most emotionally satisfying work Grey has ever done. In fact, the first third of the novel, where Peter grows and trains alongside his father, is sure to put a smile on your face.

Bucking all clichés, Peter is warned about the perils of revenge following the death of this adopted parents, and he actually listens to his dead father's advice. Instead, he enlists in the military and slowly, patiently works his way up to earn the attention of the CIA, at which time he becomes a 'ghost' agent for whom no job is too difficult.

There is a bit of James Bond, Jason Bourne, and Joe Armstrong (the original American Ninja) to the tale, and the introduction of a MtF transsexual MOSSAD agent brings the story to another level. Her role alongside Peter not only puts a positive spin on gender equality, but also explores some interesting aspects of politics and religion.

Definitely a departure for Stephen T. Grey, A Man Who Never Was is a fantastic thriller where the transsexual element is never fetishized, but just another facet of the character.

Stephen Grey has been a BDSM Dominant for almost two decades now. He has also only had relationships with transgendered females for the past 20 years. Consequently most of his stories are BDSM related stories centering on a transsexual lady.
