With Breaking us Both 5 the story begins heading for a dark conclusion that seems to promise more than one broken heart along the way. The series has already plumped the depths of doubt and regret, but here we descend even further into emotional agony. It seems as if every choice Vaughn makes is destined to lead him further down a path he is not comfortable with . . . and, despite her protests and assurances, equally destined to lead his wife down a path of her own. It is still a wildly sexy story, especially for fans of humiliation, but emotions weigh heavy.
In case you were wondering if there was anything new that could be added to the situation, Breaking us Both 6 confronts Richmond's own marital infidelity, with his wife finding out about his cuckolding of Vaughn and Lily. It adds a whole new edge to the series, and introduces a complication that introduces just as much hope for Vaughn as it does sorrow for Lily. How it all ends is something you will need to read for yourself to discover, but know that this is not a happily-ever-after story. No, this is a story where fantasy has real-life consequences, and where you really need to be careful what you wish for. It is not the way I wanted it to end, but it is the only way it could end.
Overall, this is a wonderfully well-written, and largely realistic, story that follows the darker aspects of cuckolding right through to the bitter end. It deals with the mental, emotional, and physical aspects, and pushes both husband and wife into new experiences.
The focus (or should that be the "obsession"?) in Tinto's stories is firmly on the imbalance of power in relationships. Whether that be the cuckold with their wives and bulls, dominant females and their submissive males or compliant females with their masters and mistresses.
