Monday In My Mailbox - What Are You Reading - What's Beside Your Bed?

In My Mailbox and It's Monday, What are you Reading are weekly memes hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren, Sheila at Book Journey. Both are great ways to share the books you're either reading, or shifting to the top of your TBR pile (because, let's face it, sometimes a little shifting is the best we can manage!).

Got home from work on Friday to find my latest shipment from Chapters had arrived. In the box were copies of Transvestite Memoirs by Abbe De Choisy (17th century memoir of crossdressing - count me in!), Well of Sorrows by Benjamin Tate (this has been on my radar for a while), Mabinogion Tetralogy by Evangeline Walton (recommended to me through the NPR sci-fi/fantasy debate), and Blue Angel by Logan Belle (I want to get this one read before the sequel, Fallen Angel, hits in September).

Yesterday, I decided to blow off the family and take a personal day. I loaded up my knapsack with a few essentials (notebook and pen, e-reader, bottled water, cookies) and took a long, 90 minute bike ride along the parkway to one of my favourite used bookstores. Weighing me down for the ride home were The Darkest Night  by Gena Showalter (the first Alien Huntress novel won me over - I want to try another series), Mind Guest by Sharon Green (she writes such unusual fantasy . . . I love it),  Tower of the King's Daughter by Chaz Brenchley (in the original British paperback), The Heart of Myrial by Maggie Furey (I love a strong fantasy heroine - especially when paired with firedrakes and dragons).

Last but not least, I got some great reads to review this week, including Celeste Nites & Nightwolves Coalition by Clarrissa Moon, Domina: Society's Ilk by Edmund Alexander Sims, and Fall Asleep Forgetting by Georgeann Packard.

As always, I'm generally hopping between books as the mood grabs me. Teasing me for time and seducing my attentions this week are:

Fezariu's Epiphany by David Brown (interesting and well-written, a pleasant surprise)
Vienna Dolorosa by Mykola Dementiuk (Mick never ceases to amaze and delight)
Initiate: The Unfinished Song, Book One by Tara Maya (only a few chapters in, but quite lovely so far)

As for What's Beside My Bed? (a weekly meme hosted by Nanny at Getting Naughty Between the Stacks), I've got 3 reads this week:

My Mistress' Thighs by Giselle Renarde (I've been trying to stretch this out, but I'm almost done)
♥ Soft Focus by Jaye Valentine & Reno MacLeod (all I can say about this one so far is . . . yummy!)

My Mistress' Thighs: Entire Collection   Soft Focus

Well, that's it for now . . . what are you reading?

  5. Thanks for taking a peek into "Vienna Dolorosa." It took me three years to complete and when I was done I knew nothing would stop me now. That book freed me, in more then just one.
