The finalists for the
23rd (WOW!) Annual Lambda Literary Awards were announced this morning, with over 100 finalists being selected from a record number of nominations.
For those of you unfamiliar with the Lammys, they are designed to celebrate achievement in lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender writing. Breaking last year's record, this year's awards saw 520 LGBT books nominated, with 230 publishers participating. To help narrow the field, more than 90 booksellers, book reviewers, librarians, authors, and previous nominees volunteered countless hours of their own time to read, consider, and discuss every single book in their respective category.
You can read the full list of finalists
here, but some of my early favourites are below:
BISEXUAL FICTION
TRANSGENDER FICTION
LGBT CHILDREN’S/YOUNG ADULT FICTION
LGBT SF/FANTASY/HORROR
GAY DEBUT FICTION
The winners will be announced on May 26th at the New York at the School of Visual Arts Theater. Best of luck to all involved!
