Altered Genders by Wendy Thorne (#comics #transformation #mindcontrol)

Continuing our theme of illustrated delights, I am delighted to have the opportunity to feature some more exciting titles (and artists) from Amazing Transformation Comics.

Wendy Thorne, one of the co-founders of the site, graces us once again this morning, sharing her latest bestseller, Altered Genders

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Altered Genders is a simple, intimate sort of story, one that does away with all the narrative distractions and focuses solely on the dynamic between Brian and his Professor. This is a story of experimentation, mind control, and physical transformation, building off the concept of "mind over matter," and then taking it to the extreme. Wendy Thorne invests a lot of detail in the experiment, making use of the remote lab's intimate, claustrophobic setting to add a sense of helplessness and dread.

For what is largely a single-room drama, Wendy does a fantastic job of creating the laboratory and layering in the details. Visually, there is a lovely clash between dated technology and furniture (that look as if they belong to a hospital of twenty years ago), simple antiquated hypnosis tools (such as metronomes and pinwheels), and more sci-fi aspects (like the transformation pod). Both Brian and the Professor are well-detailed, with the transformation of Brian's physique - hair, stubble, skin, muscles, and more - subtle but powerful. Wendy always does a great job of playing with focus and point-of-view, and that gives the comic a very cinematic look, making it feel like there is a camera moving us between panels.

As for the story, this is a mind-control driven story of physical transformation. The Professor forcibly feminizes Brian by making him think he has always been female, and making him want to reclaim that truth. Simple concept, but the way the story develops, and the way the relationship between then develops, is what keeps you reading. It is chilling and unsettling, but also unspeakably erotic. I love stories like Altered Genders, and this has all the right pay-offs.

Wendy Thorne, also known as WendyTheRed, has been creative ever since she was a child. As she got older that creative side expressed itself in writing and drawing but it wasn't until she started doing 3D renders that her creativity truly flourished. Wendy’s comics tend to focus on total transformations that are generally accomplished through science fiction and fantasy means. She will also have elements of BDSM and mind control in her comics as well.
